Ultherapy before and after browThe non-surgical brow lift using Ultherapy is now available at A E Skin. One of the most common signs of aging and concerns we get is heaviness in the brow and upper eyelid. This gives the appearance of being tired and old. Of course, a surgical brow lift is the perfect solution. But as you know surgery has its drawbacks including surgical scars, anesthesia, recovery time, and a high expense. Over the past decade or so, Botox has been used to improve the appearance of a brow, but Botox requires regular maintenance treatments every three to four months. Now with the power of ultrasound energy, we can achieve results comparable to a surgical or Botox brow lift without these down sides. What happens naturally over time is that collagen in the skin is lost due to sun damage and other factors. Collagen is the protein that keeps the skin firm and tight. Consequently, the skin becomes loose and saggy and we see signs of aging such as a heavy brow, wrinkles, and loss of jawline definition. Ultherapy harnesses the power of ultrasound to deliver focused and targeted energy in the deep layers of the skin. This stimulates the skin to produce new collagen, tightening the skin and providing that youthful appearance we all desire. The layers addressed with an Ultherapy treatment are the same layers that are tightened with a surgery. But since Ultherapy is completely non-invasive and non-surgical you don’t have to worry about scars, risk of anesthesia, recovery time, or large investments. Another benefit of the Ultherapy brow lift treatment (or any Ultherapy treatment for that matter) is that you won’t look “done,” or look like you had plastic surgery. Instead you will look refreshed and rejuvenated, and your friends will comment that you look well rested, like you just came back from a vacation. Additionally, instead of pulling and putting on a bandage as in surgery, with Ultherapy your body will form its own natural collagen, giving a more natural result. The safety of Ultherapy has been proven as over 100,000 Ultherapy treatments have been done worldwide and the Ultherapy treatment is cleared by the FDA. There are many non-surgical skin tightening treatments with light, lasers, and radiofrequency, but Ultherapy stands apart from the rest for a few reasons. First, with Ultherapy we actually visualize the layer that we are treating rather than blindly treating multiple layers of the skin. Second, instead of treating multiple layers of the skin, the exact layer is targeted. And perhaps most importantly, Ultherapy penetrates to the deep layer of the skin, the areas that previously have only been tightened with surgery; other devices do not go this deep. The brow lift treatment is very fast; it takes less than 30 minutes. You will see your result slowly over the course of three to six months and enjoy your results for a few years, so you don’t need maintenance as with Botox. At A E Skin, patient comfort is very important, which is why we provide numbing cream and medications by mouth to keep you comfortable during the treatment. Some of these medications can make you sleepy, so you will need someone to drive you home after the treatment. Recovery after an Ultherapy treatment is easy. Some people have temporary redness, swelling, bruising, or tingling. But most people resume their normal activities right away. Click here for more information on Ultherapy at A E Skin. Dr. Alex attended The Aesthetic Show 2015 at the Wynn Hotel and Resort in Las Vegas, NV July 9-12, 2015. The Aesthetic Show is a conference held each year in Las Vegas which brings together doctors from around the world to learn about what is new and exciting in the cosmetic medical field. This is the fifth consecutive year Dr. Alex has attended and he learns new things every time. Dr. Alex started with a pre-show course: the Certified Aesthetic Consulting course, level VII. This course teaches how to run and manage a practice including issues such as patient scheduling, website design, and practice management. This is the second time Dr. Alex has taken this course and we are implementing a number of ideas Dr. Alex took back from the course. The main program included a variety of lectures and seminars on topics including Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, Restylane, skin care products, chemical peels, IPL photofacialsand other laser treatments. Dr. Alex was selected as a faculty member for the conference for the first time and was honored to give a talk on combining skin care products with treatments. He was also able to network with a number of world reknown friends and colleagues such as Dr. Alexander Rivkin of Westside Aesthetics, founder of the non-surgical nose job, Dr. Kian Karimi, medical director of Dermasculpt, Dr. Alex Khadavi of Revivogen, Dr. Michael Gold of Gold Skin Care Center in Nashville, TN, Dr. Monika Kiripolsky, dermatologist to the stars in Beverly Hills, CA, and Dr. E. Vic Ross in San Diego, CA. In addition to the talks, the exhibit hall showcased new technologies such as UltherapyCoolsculpting, and tattoo removal devices. Prizes were given out each day with a combined value of over $100,000. The highlight of the show, as usual, was The Aesthetic Awards on Saturday July 11, 2015, where prizes were awarded to practices with the best outcomes. A E Skin was nominated for Best Aesthetic Practice for the third year in a row. Dr. Alex was even interviewed on the red carpet. Although the conference was long and tiring, with the program starting at 8 AM daily, Dr. Alex was able to attend other evening events such as the VIP dinner on Friday July 10, 2015 at the beautiful Lakeside restaurant at the Wynn resort. The Aesthetic Show is always an outstanding event and we look forward to it again next year!

The A E Skin Fountain of Youth Rejuvenation treatment is a new and exciting two-step combination laser therapy designed by Dr. Alex to provide improvement for many different aspects of aging all performed in one session. The Fountain of Youth is associated with the 16th century Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon who was searching for water in the Caribbean to regain youthfulness. For hundreds of years since then we have been searching for ways to do so, and now Dr. Alex has designed an easy treatment to provide you with that youthful and radiant appearance you really want. The Fountain of Youth Rejuvenation treatment is perfect to help with fine lines, wrinkles, enlarged pores, discolorations, redness, and broken capillaries. Designed for those who want to rejuvenate their skin without prolonged recovery times, multiple gentle treatments are performed over time instead of a single deeper treatment. Light laser settings are used so that the recovery time is no more than a few days.

  1. Surface Rejuvenation. The first step is the Laser Skin Tightening. In this step, gentle micropulses of laser energy are used to slowly heat up the surface layer of the skin. This stimulates collagen production to improve fine lines, wrinkles, and laxity. It will also help with generalized redness and broken capillaries.
  2. Deep Rejuvenation. The second step is the Pro Fractional Therapy, which uses a different laser to create tiny holes in the skin. This stimulates collagen formation in the deeper layers of the skin, providing a perfect complement to the first step. Less than two percent of the skin surface is treated and the surrounding untreated areas allow for rapid healing with minimal down time.

A series of four to six treatments done every four to eight weeks are done for best results. After that, maintenance treatments are done every three to six months. The Fountain of Youth Rejuvenation treatment is appropriate for those with lighter skin types only. It is not recommended for patients with darker skin types because there is a risk of darkening of the skin after the treatment. Women who are pregnant or breast feeding should not be treated. The Fountain of Youth Rejuvenation treatment is now available at A E Skin. For a limited time only we are offering promotional pricing on this exciting treatment. Contact us to schedule a free consultation with Dr. Alex to determine what is best for you.

Collagen is  a naturally occurring protein found in the skin which, with other proteins such as elastin, provides the tightness or turgor to the skin. The molecule looks like three strings wrapped around each other tightly, called a triple helix. Collagen is always being produced and destroyed by the body at the same time. When we are young, the production is more than the destruction, which is why young skin looks firm. As we age the rate of collagen production slows down and collagen destruction speeds up. This leads to fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin such as the jowls. Other factors cause damage of collagen. These include sun damage and free radical formation from smoking. These specifically change the three dimensional structure of the molecule such that it becomes loose. We can protect ourselves by applying sunscreen daily as well as topical antioxidants such as vitamin C. Adding a retinoid such as retin-A or retinol to your skin care regimen will stimulate collagen formation, giving your skin a tight and youthful appearance. In addition to at home products, treatments which stimulate collagen production include Ultherapy (the new and exciting non-surgical facelift alternative now available at A E Skin), chemical peelslaser skin tightening, dermabrasion, and laser resurfacing such as Pro Fractional Therapy. People that get the best results are those that combine a thorough skin care regimen including sunscreenantioxidants, and retinoids with in office procedures. Contact us for a free consultation with Dr. Alex.Coming soon.
