Do you want longer, thicker, and fuller eyelashes? If so, our newest product, Grolash, is what you are looking for.
The eyes are central features of the face and often time the first thing someone sees when looking at you. Therefore, it is no surprise why the eyes and the area around them are so important to many people. One part that provides beauty is the lash. Having long and glamorous eyelashes is considered to be a characteristic of a beautiful and attractive face. Some people genetically have short or thin lashes while others lose them naturally over time. There are many products available to address such concerns.
Eyelash extensions have been available for many years. These can provide outstanding results. But the can be tedious and time consuming to apply and are temporary. Latisse is a prescription-strength product designed to treat the lashes. It makes the lashes longer, fuller, and darker. Although not reported in the clinical trials, the biggest concern with Latisse is the possibility of changing blue eye color in to brown.
The new A E Skin Grolash product is a non-prescription product that provides longer and thicker lashes without such risks. The active ingredients in the A E Skin Grolash are peptides, silk amino acids, and hyaluronic acid. Peptides are short pieces of proteins that have multiple effects. When used on the skin, they lead to healthier appearing skin. For the lashes, peptides promote lengthening and thickening. Silk amino acids condition and fortify the hair, promoting growth. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the skin and is an ingredient in many skin care products. Hyaluronic acid significantly provides hydration by drawing water into the area. For the lashes, this leads to shine and suppleness.
Apply a thin line of the A E Skin Grolash twice daily to the upper lash. Allow one to two minutes for the A E Skin Grolash serum to dry. You may feel a temporary tingling sensation after applying the A E Skin Grolash. As early as 30 days after beginning use of the A E Skin Grolash 70 % of patients noticed longer lashes, 73% noticed thicker lashes, and 80% found the lashed to be more nourished.
The A E Skin Growlash will be available soon.

Skin care in Encino
At A E Skin, you'll see Dr. Eshaghian every time you visit the office. He'll examine your skin and listen to your goals for smoother, tighter and more line and spot-free skin. Plus, he'll make recommendations for skin care regimens tailor-made for your activity level, age, wellness and personal preferences. What would you like to change?
We're all going through it, and it makes the skin, especially on the face, neck, upper chest and hands, look wrinkled, papery, loose and just plain old. Skin naturally loses its elasticity as collagen production decreases. Dr. Eshaghian has several in-office treatments and at-home skin care products which can change those signs of aging for the better.
Anti-aging treatments include:
- Dermal fillers, an injectable form of hyaluronic acid to smooth fine lines and wrinkles
- Chemical peels to reveal a more radiant skin tone (alpha-hydroxy acid is the typical active ingredient, says the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery)
- Cellulite treatments to smooth dimpling on the thighs, abdomen and buttocks
- Fractional CO2 laser resurfacing, a safe and comfortable way to remove skin spots and acne scarring
- BOTOX Cosmetic, an injectable medication which limits the movement of selected facial muscles and reduces dynamic wrinkling between the brows, across the forehead and at the sides of the mouth
- Laser leg vein treatments to reduce the appearance of spider veins and rosacea
We need the sun for strong bones and great mental health. However, too much sun advances skin aging and threatens both young and old with skin cancer. As such, Dr. Eshaghian recommends Elta MD skin products, including SPF 40 sunscreen, to protect exposed skin from harmful UV rays.
These board spectrum products provide daily moisture and the continual protection you need regardless of the time of year.

Do you have loose skin or wrinkles on your neck that concern you? With laser skin tightening you can get rid of those wrinkles to have a youthful and smooth neck.
How to wrinkles form on the neck?
As we age there are many changes that occur in our body and on the skin. The body slowly decreases the amount of collagen that it produces. Collagen is the protein in the skin that keeps it firm, tight, and youthful in appearance. When collagen levels decrease the skin becomes loose and wrinkles are seen. There are other factors that can contribute to this appearance as well. Sunlight damages the skin and destroys the collagen. Therefore, it is important to protect the skin on the face, neck, and entire body with sunscreen every day. Dr. Alex recommends using a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 with UVA and UVB protection. Smoking also affects the skin in the same way, leading to wrinkles. It is also important to maintain a healthy lifestyle by drinking enough water every day, getting enough sleep, and exercising regularly. These activities will prevent wrinkle formation.
How can I treat wrinkles on my neck?
Laser skin tightening is an easy, non-invasive, and no down-time way to significantly reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the neck (and in other places) without surgery, incisions, or anesthesia. Laser skin tightening works by using gentle micro-pulses of infrared light to slowly warm up the deeper layers of the skin. This tells your body to form its own natural, new, fresh, and healthy collagen. As a result, the skin will appear smoother and more youthful. The laser skin tightening treatment is very easy. You don’t even need any numbing cream. The skin is first cleaned and gel is applied to transmit the light. You will be given protective goggles or glasses for your eyes. The laser skin tightening treatment takes about ten minutes and is very comfortable. Dr. Alex recommends an initial series of six to eight laser skin tightening treatments. The laser skin tightening are performed every one to two weeks.
When will I see results and how long will they last?
The laser skin tightening leads to the formation of collagen. But collagen does not grow overnight. Just like the wrinkles did not appear right away, they will not go away right away. Results are seen slowly over the course of the laser skin tightening sessions. You will see full results approximately three months after you last laser skin tightening treatment. After the initial series of six to eight laser skin tightening sessions, Dr. Alex recommends a single laser skin tightening treatment every three months to maintain your results and to protect your investment. The patient shown here had five laser skin tightening treatment sessions.

As we age our skin changes. Perhaps the most important factor causing these changes is exposure to ultraviolet (UV) light from the sun. When these UV rays hit the skin they produce harmful free radicals. Free radicals are certain molecules that damage the skin in a number of ways. They cause the breakdown of collagen, the protein in the skin that holds it together, giving it a youthful and tight appearance. This leads to the formation of fine lines, wrinkles, laxity, and enlarged pores. It also thins out the deeper layer of the skin called the dermis. This makes the skin looks and feel thinner. UV rays also produces broken capillaries which become visible to the naked eye. Additionally, UV rays lead to formeation of sun spots by causing certain cells in the skin called melanocytes to produce a molecule called melanin, the pigment that gives the skin its color. This is what happens when we get a tan. Also excess melanin is seen in freckles, age spots, and melasma.
There are many of things we can do to protect ourselves from and correct this damage. Using suncreen every day is the most basic way to prevent sun damage. Dr. Alex recommend using a sunscreen with SPF of at least 30 with broad spectrum (or UVA and UVB) protection. Our most popular sunscreens are the Elta MD UV Clear sunscreen and the Alastin Hydratint sunscreen. Other skin care products to use include antioxidants (such as vitamin C and green teat extract) to block the harmful free radicals, retinoids (such as retinol and retin-A) to stimulate collagen production and a firm appearance, and brightening creams (such as the A E Skin Brightening Cream) to remove the dark discolorations. Brightening products include ingredients wuch as hydroquinone, kojic acid, arbutin, licorice extract, and many more. Treatments include facials, microdermabrasion, chemical peels, and various laser treatments. These are designed to exfoliate or target specific things in the skin such as dark discolorations and broken capillaries. Dr. Alex recommends a combination approach by using products at home and getting treatments that focus on your specific concern. This combination approach provides the best results and a continued youthful appearance.
Vertical bands on the neck can often be seen slowly over time as we mature. Botox is an easy solution for these bands.
What is Botox?
Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles that are associated with facial expressions. These include the horizontal lines seen on the upper forehead when we raise our eyebrows, the vertical lines seen between the eyebrows when we frown, and the crow’s feet seen around the eyes when we smile or quint. When placed in the skin, Botox will relax the muscles and smoothen out the overlying wrinkles.
How does Botox work on the neck?
A common concern on the neck is what are called vertical neck bands. These are caused by contraction of a muscled in the neck just under the skin called the platysma. They can be seen or accentuated when the neck is contracted, often times by slightly lifting the chin and moving the lips to show your lower teeth as seen in the photograph shown here. Just like any other muscle on the body, over time the more it is used the stronger it gets. This leads to muscle definition, which is seen as neck bands. Botox works for neck bands in the same way it works for frown lines, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet: by relaxing muscles. In this case Botox relaxes the platysma muscle in the neck, preventing it from contracting and forming the bands. The results from a Botox treatment for neck bands are outstanding. Usually 10 units of Botox are used in each of the four bands, for a total of 40 units of Botox.
Additionally, Botox can be used in the neck for what is called the Nefertiti neck lift. Nefertiti was an Egyptian queen known for her long and beautiful neck. In the Nefertiti neck lift Botox is placed just under the jawline from one side to the other side. This relaxes the upper part of the same platysma muscle that is treated for vertical neck bands. When this part of the muscle contracts it pulls down on the lower face. Once it is relaxed with Botox it is unable to pull down on the lower face. This provides a subtle lift of the lower face and improves jawline definition. Sometimes a small amount of Botox is placed in a muscle called the DAO in the lower face. This muscle goes from the corners of the mouth to the jawline and when it contracts it pulls down the corners of the mouth. When the DAO muscle is relaxed with Botox the corners of the mouth are elevated about one or two millimeters. This really helps with a sad face appearance. The Nefertiti neck lift can be complemented by placing fillers in the mid-face, laser skin tightening, and Kybella for the double chin.

When will I see the results of by Botox treatment?
Although some people notice the results of their Botox treatment in a few days, it can take up to two weeks to see the full results of your Botox treatment. Therefore, patience is important. We take baseline photographs of you making facial expressions before your Botox treatment and have you return tow to three weeks later to take the same pictures. If you receive the recommended dose of Botox and the results are not perfect, we provide complimentary additional Botox units. This way you don’t have to worry about the possibility of diluted Botox.
How long does Botox last?
Most people enjoy the results of their Botox treatment for three to four months. Dr. Alex recommends a maintenance Botox treatment at that time. We participate in the Brilliant Distinctions Program. This is a rewards program designed by Allergan, makers of Botox, Juvederm, Voluma, Vollure, Volbella, Kybella, and Latisse, where you get points for each treatment. These points are then used toward discounts at your next Botox (or other) treatment.
What are the side effects of Botox?
With any injection there are risks including pain, bleeding, bruising, redness, swelling, infection, and tenderness. We take special precautions to minimize these risks. Dr. Alex uses a painless Botox injection technique where cold air is blown on the skin to numb the skin. We also place a vibrating distractor called the Beauty Bar nearby for further comfort during your Botox treatment. Bruising is rare with Botox treatments and bruises can last up to two weeks after a Botox treatment. If you get a bruise after a Botox or other treatment we are able to treat it with a laser as early as the next business day. This makes the bruise go away much faster, typically in one to three days, although it may still last two weeks and sometimes it gets darker before getting lighter. Headaches can occur for up to a few days after a Botox treatment. Dr. Alex recommends taking over-the-counter strength Tylenol for pain relief. There is also a very small risk (less than one percent) that some of the Botox spreads to nearby muscles. Depending on the area treatment, the spread of Botox make lead to things like droopy eyelids or an asymmetric smile. Such side effects are always temporary and often times treatable.
What should I do after a Botox treatment?
After a Botox treatment, Dr. Alex recommends avoiding heat exposure, alcohol consumption, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours and maintaining an upright posture without bending forward or lying flat for four hours. These activities can lead to the movement of Botox, leading to side effects, and/or increase the risk of bruising.

I was referred to Dr. Alex by friend. At first I was afraid of getting Botox injections because I thought it would make me look weird. But Dr. Alex and his wonderful staff explained that it is a purified protein and the results will be natural. And they were right. It looks completely natural, the treatment was painless, and I did not even get a bruise. If you want great results and outstanding service I highly recommend A E Skin.
