Voluma for Hollow Temples

Hollowing of the temples is a common concern. Fortunately, we are easily able to treat it with Voluma.

Why do people get hollow temples?

At birth, we have many fat pads in the face that provide volume, giving the face a youthful appearance. Over time these fat pads get smaller and sometimes move. The fat pads in the temples slowly get smaller, while those in the cheeks also move downward. Other factors contributing to these changes include weight loss and genetics.

What is Voluma?

Voluma is a dermal filler that is used to restore lost volume in various areas in the face. The active ingredient in Voluma is hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring sugar found in the skin that draws water into the area to restore lost volume. Voluma is in the Juvederm family of fillers and provides a high degree of volumization, making it perfect for areas such as the temples as well as the cheeks, nose, chin, and jawline.

How does Voluma fill hollow temples?

Voluma is placed deep on the bone over the temple usually with just a single, slow injection. The Voluma treatment is very easy and takes only a few minutes. We apply numbing cream for about 15 minutes before the Voluma treatment to maximize your comfort. We also place a vibrator distractor near the area to provide further comfort during the Voluma treatment. Take a look at a demonstration of a Voluma treatment in the video below. The results after a Voluma treatment in the temples can be seen right away and most people enjoy their results from Voluma for one to two years. Dr. Alex usually starts with one syringe of Voluma per side and the results are assessed approximately two weeks later. At that point more Voluma can be used if further enhancement is desired.
