We all know what Botox is and where it is commonly used. The most common areas of treatment with Botox are in the upper face: the vertical frown lines between the eyebrows seen when we frown, the horizontal lines across the upper forehead seen when we raise our eyebrows, and the crows feet around the eyebrows seen when we smile or squint. Here we discuss the area on the face and neck that are less commonly treated with Botox.
Botox is a purified protein used to address wrinkles associated with facial expression. When injected into the skin Botox will relax the muscles and smoothen out the wrinkles. People see the results of their Botox treatment in three to seven days after the treatment. But it could take up to two weeks for full results of Botox. Most people will enjoy their results of their Botox treatment for three to four months.
Botox for Bunny Lines
A common concern is what we call the bunny lines. The bunny lines appear here on the nose when we scrunch our nose. A small amount of Botox can be placed here to address the bunny lines.
Botox for the Gummy Smile
A common concern that can be addressed with Botox is what we call the gummy smile. The gummy smile is seen in some people who when they smile, their lips go up so high that the gums are seen in addition to the teeth. A small amount of Botox placed at the side of the nose will relax that muscle and the lips will not elevate as high so the gums will not show when you smile.
Botox for the Lips
Botox can be used to address the shape and size of the lips. A small amount of Botox placed above and below the lips will relax the muscle around the lip and give you a slight pout of about one millimeter. Fillers work well in combination with this.
Botox to Elevate the Corners of the Mouth
A common concern that can be addressed with Botox is the corners of the mouth. As we age the corners of the mouth go downward giving a sad face appearance. A small amount of Botox can be placed here in the lower face to relax the muscle that pulls down the corner of the mouth. This will elevate the corners of the mouth by about one millimeter.
Botox for the Chin
Some people have a dimpling, or what we can an orange peel appearance, here on the chin. This can be address by placing a small amount of Botox there to relax the muscles and smoothen out those wrinkles.
Botox for the Square Jaw
Some people have a square jaw appearance here associated with a large muscle here called the masseter which is used for biting. Injecting Botox here will relax that muscle and make the appearance of the face more of a heart shape rather than a square face.
Botox Nefertiti Lift
The Nefertiti lift is a Botox treatment which can address the jawline. Small amounts of Botox are placed along the jawline. This relaxes the muscle that pulls down on the jawline, giving it a subtle lift.
Botox for Neck Bands
In addition to the face, Botox can also be used on the neck to treat the neck bands we see when we make certain expressions. Small amount of Botox can be injected along the band to relax that muscle and smoothen out the bands.
