Kybella for the Banana Roll

Do you have a banana roll under your butt that you can’t get rid of no matter how much you diet or exercise.? Kybella is a treatment to permanently eliminate this stubborn fat.

What is the banana roll?

The banana roll is a pocket of fat just under the crease of the buttocks. This is an example of what is called stubborn fat, which is an area of fat that does not go away no matter how much you diet or exercise.

What is Kybella?

Kybella is the first and thus far only FDA-approved non-surgical injectable treatment for stubborn fat. Kybella has been approved for use in the double chin area and it is also used in other areas such as the banana roll, bra fat below the underarms, and the belly. The active ingredient in Kybella is called deoxycholic acid. This is a naturally occurring salt found in the body used to digest the dietary fat that you eat. When Kybella is injected into the skin it will dissolve the stubborn fat and it is slowly eliminated by your body over time. The best thing about Kybella is that once the fat is eliminated by your body, the area is no longer able to store nor accumulate fat. So after your series of Kybella treatments you will not need maintenance treatments like you do with Botox and fillers such as Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella.

What is the Kybella treatment like?

Before your Kybella treatment we will take baseline pictures of the area to monitor your progress. Then we apply numbing to the skin to make the treatment comfortable. After about 15 minutes the numbing cream is removed and the skin is cleansed. The area to be treated with Kybella is marked with a special pencil. We blow cold air on the skin to numb the area and apply a vibrating distractor called the beauty bar nearby to make it even more comfortable. A series of Kybella injections are placed in the area and the treatment itself takes only a few minutes. Immediately after your Kybella treatment the area will feel hot for about 15 minutes. We will apply ice packs to the area to keep you comfortable. After your Kybella treatment you will notice swelling in the area for one to two weeks. Swelling is normal and indicates that the Kybella is working. You may feel lumps and bumps in the area which will go away on their own. Other than that you can resume your normal activities after your Kybella treatment.

How many Kybella treatments will I need?

Dr. Alex recommends a series of two to four Kybella treatments, although some people required more treatments. Dr. Alex recommend spacing your Kybella treatments every three months to allow the skin to heal and the swelling to subside. For even better results, Dr. Alex recommends a series of six to eight skin tightening sessions done every two weeks between your first and second Kybella sessions.
