Volbella for Hollowing under the Eyes

Do you have hollowing under the eyes? This is a normal changed that happens to many people over time. Fortunately, fillers such as Volbella can help.

What causes hollowing under the eyes.

When you’re born, you have a number of structures in your face that change over time. Specifically, under your eyes, you have a bony structure that goes around your eyes and a fat pad under your eye. You also have plenty of collagen in your skin to keep it firm. These are what makes the area look youthful. Over time, things change. The structure of the bone around your eyes changes. This causes the fat pads to move downward, leading to an appearance of hollowing under the eyes. Many people also loose collagen, the protein that keeps your skin tight. As a result, sometimes you can also see wrinkles in the area. Together, these changes can make you look tired and older.

How do you treat hollowing under the eyes?

Fortunately, we are able to treat the hollowing that occurs under your eyes. The primary causes of this hollowing are changes in the bone and fat. Fillers such as Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella can be used to restore lost volume that occurs under your eyes. Depending on your face, Dr. Alex will recommend the appropriate product and place it in the right place to restore a youthful appearance. Dr. Alex uses Voluma to provide structure to the cheek bone, Vollure for the bone around the eyes, and Volbella for the fat pad under the eyes (which was used for the patient whose picture is shown here).

What is Volbella?

Volbella is a dermal filler that’s used to treat volume loss in the face and body. The active ingredient in Volbella is a sugar called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in your body and it works by drawing water into your skin to provide volume. Like Voluma and Vollure, Volbella is in the Juvederm family, the most popular brand of fillers in the United States. Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella have the right amounts of hyaluronic acid and therefore provide very natural results. This makes you look rested without looking like you’ve had something done. The other benefit of Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella is that they use a new technology that allows you to enjoy your results for a year or more.

How does Volbella work under the eyes?

Everyone is different, so different products may be needed for your face. In this case, the patient still had her bony structures intact and had a mild loss of the fat pad under her eyes. Therefore, Dr. Alex used a single syringe of Volbella under the eyes. Unlike Voluma and Vollure which are usually placed on the bone, Dr. Alex places Volbella just under the skin. That’s what gives the natural result in this case. You can expect swelling for the first few days after any filler. The result shown here is after two weeks. Most people enjoy the results from their Volbella treatment under the eyes for a year or longer.
