Non-Surgical Nose Job

Does the appearance of your nose bother you? If so, the non-surgical nose job may be for you.

What is a nose job?

A traditional nose job, or surgical rhinoplasty, is a surgery to make changes to the nose. It can be done for structural deformities that may cause difficulty with breathing or for cosmetic reasons. As with any surgery, there are many risks and recovery takes time. But the results of a traditional surgical nose job could last for the rest of your life.

What is the non-surgical nose job?

The non-surgical nose job is a new way to improve the appearance of your nose without the need for surgery. The benefits of a non-surgical nose job are that there are no risks associated with surgery, the treatment is fast, you see your results right away, and changes can be made with touch up treatments. The non-surgical nose job uses a filler such as Voluma to provide volume to specific areas in the nose. The nose is an advanced area for treatment with fillers such as Voluma. The blood supply of the nose is different from other areas in the face and there are higher risks in this area. Therefore, it is important that your injector has training specifically on this area. Dr. Alex has had extensive training on injection of fillers such as Voluma in the nose by many world-renown doctors including the inventor of the non-surgical nose job Dr. Alexander Rivkin of Westside Aesthetics. Dr. Alex has known Dr. Rivkin for about a decade and communicates with him regularly. One of the main differences between placing fillers such as Voluma in other areas and placing fillers such as Voluma in the nose is the syringe and needle that area used. Small amount of filler such as Voluma need to be placed precisely in the correct position for treatment of the nose. Therefore, a smaller syringe and a smaller needle are used. This allows Dr. Alex to place tiny amount of a filler such as Voluma in the exact place where it is needed.

What is the difference between a traditional surgical nose job and the non-surgical nose job?

As its name implies, the main difference between a traditional nose job and a non-surgical nose job is that there is no surgery in the non-surgical nose job. This means that there are decreased risks, there is no anesthesia, there are no incisions, and the recovery time is short. While with a traditional nose job, bone and cartilage can be removed, this is not the case with a non-surgical nose job. Instead, only volume is added. But the results can be fantastic.

What can the non-surgical nose job do?

The non-surgical nose job can correct many irregularities. The most common concern is a bump on the nose. By placing a filler such as Voluma above and below the bump, the bump can be hidden and you will have a straighter nose. Some people have a saddle deformity, which is essentially the opposite of a bump. Some people call this a ski slope nose because it curves in. By placing a filler such as Voluma in that area, the curve can be lifted and the nose will be straight. The non-surgical nose job can also lift the tip of the nose for people who have a droopy tip or bring the tip down if it’s too high. It can also correct asymmetry in the nose and adjust the shape of the nostrils.

What happens during a non-surgical nose job?

Before your non-surgical nose job treatment, we will take baseline pictures of your face in multiple different angles to monitor your progress. Then we’ll apply some numbing cream on your nose and let it sit for about 15 minutes. After that, the area will be cleaned with water and multiple cleansing solutions to prevent infections. Dr. Alex uses a painless injection technique. First, we cool down the area with cold air to further numb the area. A vibrating distractor is placed nearby. Then Dr. Alex uses a tiny needle to place the product in the precise place. After your non-surgical nose job treatment, Dr. Alex will massage the area and we will provide you with an ice pack to reduce any swelling. We will have your remain in the office for about an hour after your non-surgical nose job to make sure there are no side effects before you go home.

When will I see the results of my non-surgical nose job?

The best thing about a non-surgical nose job is that you’ll see your results right away. There will be some swelling, which is expected. This may exaggerate the results, so don’t worry if it doesn’t look perfect. The swelling will be gone after a week or two, when you will see your final results. With your non-surgical nose job treatment, you will receive two complimentary touch up treatments within the first three months to make sure your results are perfect.

How long will the results of my non-surgical nose job last?

Most people enjoy the results of fillers such as Voluma for up to two years. This was demonstrated by studies done when Voluma was placed in the cheeks. However, in areas where there is less movement such as the nose and chin, the results can last even longer. Dr. Alex recommends coming back one month and three months after your treatment for touch up treatments, if necessary. After that, Dr. Alex recommends returning every six months to monitor your progress. Most people will not need a full re-treatment for at least two years.

What should I do after a non-surgical nose job treatment?

After your non-surgical nose job treatment, avoid heat exposure, alcohol consumption, and strenuous exercise for 24 hours. All of these things can increase the risk of swelling, bruising, and bleeding. Heat exposure refers to going out in the hot sun and staying outdoors for prolonged periods, if it’s hot outside. Also avoid hot environments indoors such as a hot bath, sauna, or steam room. Additionally, avoid hot or spicy foods or drinks such as soup, hot coffee, or hot tea for 24 hours. Iced coffee and iced tea are ok. Avoid showers that are long or hot and avoid direct water flow on your nose. To clean your face, put some water in your hands and gently apply it to your face. Swelling is normal after your non-surgical nose job treatment. To decrease the risk of swelling, apply ice packs or other col compresses on the area for about five minutes at a time several times per day, sleep on an extra pillow if you can, and avoid salty foods. Using products containing arnica such as the Alastin Inhance Post-Injection Serum will decrease the risk of bruising and swelling after your non-surgical nose job treatment.
